In recent years, we have seen a steady increase in the volume of new road construction. Moreover, nowadays, the implementation of very ambitious and complex projects is beginning from an engineering-geological point of view, for example, the construction project of the new Dzhubga-Sochi high-speed highway. In order for such projects to be implemented on time and at the same time without increasing their cost, it is very important to perform high-quality engineering surveys. Alexey Bershov, the general director of the Petromodeling Group of Companies, a lecturer at the Department of Engineering and Environmental Geology of the Geological Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University, tells about what is currently happening in the field of engineering surveys and about how the information obtained at this stage of construction affects the further course of work. The original material was published in № 4 of the “Avtomobil’nyie dorogi” (“Motor roads”) journal in 2024.
